As reported on 12-06-2009 by the KNVB web site Vic Hermans is the new national team coach of Malta. The highly experienced coach, didn't reach an agreement with the Dutch federation in order to extend his contract on the national team bench. Maltese FA immediately took the chance to have one of the most recognized trainers all around the world, closing in this way their experience with the Czech coach Michal Striz. Hermans will lead Netherlands in the international tournament in China and then move to Malta, starting his work here as from August 1st.
Vic Hermans was born on 17-03-1953 in Maastricht (Netherlands). His CV includes:
Dutch National Futsal Team Coach; Best Player of the 1st FIFA World Futsal Championship - Netherlands 1989; Hong Kong National Futsal team Coach in 2nd FIFA World Futsal Championship - Hong Kong 1992; Malaysian National Futsal team Coach in 3rd FIFA World Futsal Championship - Spain 1996.

Elton Catania and Marvin Spiteri were selected by Michal Striz to form part of the National Team in view if the UEFA Futsal Group C Championship mini tournament. The National team took part also in two friendlies against a Sicilian side on the 3rd and 5th February 2009 losing the first and winning the second one.
